Named One of NYC’s Top 30 Freelancers

Cristina Hernandez, founder of Chernandez Studio, was named one of NYC’s Top 30 freelancers in the inaugural Freelancer’s Survival Guide, published for the Freelancers Union’s 30th Anniversary celebration.

The celebration highlighted the Union’s advocacy on behalf of freelancers, from landmark wins like the Freelancers Isn’t Free Act to the ongoing work led by Executive Director Rafael Espinal. NYC Comptroller Brad Lander joined the evening to speak about the role of independent workers in shaping the city’s economy and culture.

The guide itself was beautifully produced, with portraits by Mario De Lopez and design and art direction by Scheherazade Fleming and Greta Long of We Must Be Bold. It captures the energy and resilience of the freelance community, spotlighting thirty individuals who represent its creativity and strength.

Cristina is very happy to be included among them, and grateful to Freelancers Union, Jalen Vasquez, and everyone who continues to champion the freelance community in New York City.
